Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University (SyktSU) is a rapidly developing university with more than a half century of history. It is the largest university in the Komi Republic and provides all levels of higher education. The university has an advanced infrastructure for science and innovation. In 2017 SyktSU received the status of the Russian flagship university (among only 33 Russian HEIs).
SyktSU provides great variety of educational programs on undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels and also provides some bilingual programs.
SyktSU is located in the city of Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic, which is located in the far northeast of the European part of the Russian Federation.

At the Medical Institute, students acquire theoretical knowledge of Diagnostics, Examination of a Human Body and study the reasons of different illness and diseases, ways different infections spread, symptoms of diseases and their progress, pharmacology, curative and the preventive measures and pre-exposure prophylaxis.
Students study both in English and Russian. First three years they have been learned major subjects in English. In this time, they also learn Russian language then starting in the fourth year they begin studying medical subjects in Russian, that allows them to communicate with patients fluently.

Applied Informatics in Economy (English)
Upon graduation, students receive a master's degree and become specialists in the field of information technology and information systems. Able to engage in practical management, design information systems and databases. The group opens when recruiting at least 10 people. Full-time: 2 years. Intra-extramural form of study: 2 years 3 months.

Linguistics (Russian and English)
Program for foreigners who speak English at the B1 level. The language level is determined by an internal university exam. In addition to a deeper mastery of the English language, students will master the Russian language at least at the B2 level. This will allow them to teach other foreign citizens the Russian language, and to carry out any other activity that requires proficiency in oral and written speech. The group opens when recruiting at least 10 people.
